What if a website would appear like a regular account in the Fediverse
In late 2022, I did an experiment of making this website appear on the Fediverse (Mastodon et al.) as a native ActivityPub server. Once I got it to work, it's actually quite magical!

What if a CMS would continuously provide content editors with feedback on the accessibility of their edits
In day-to-day content editing, accessible features of a website may be inadvertedly compromised. With instant validation tools available, why not integrate them into editors' workflow in the CMS?

Micropub is a protocol to easily create posts on a website. Given that Kirby does not come with pre-defined post types (as Wordpress et al.), a configurable adapter is needed to reach the desired outcome.

Sharing GPS location on a live map can be useful in many situations. The technologies involved are straightforward enough to run the entire stack oneself. (Project currently not publicly accessible.)

This versatile comment system and integrated Webmention endpoint for Kirby CMS explored how to apply data minimalism and privacy-by-design on a context that heavily relies on other people's data.

Among a long list of formal requirements, the GDPR demands privacy policies to be easy to access and understand. This privacy policy is a showcase of how legal requirements can be met while also being useful to the user.

While, during the peak of the "GDPR panic weeks" in early 2018, most educational offerings were either about bending the rules or about turning everything off, we formed a team of a lawyer, an agency owner and a designer to offer a workshop that looked at creative, yet compliant, solutions.

A workshop for artists, activists, cultural producers and concerned individuals that focuses not so much on GDPR-compliance, but on truly thinking privacy through and possibly taking it to the absolute extreme.

In a series of conference talks throughout 2018, I presented and discussed different approaches to incorporating privacy into usability work: designers have the means as much as a responsibility to shape users' experience of privacy-related issues.

The cookie banner is likely the most disliked element in web design history. The best way to get rid of it is to understand the legal context and then design solutions that achieve our goals without relying on cookies requiring consent.

Starting from a three-hour session on "usability", my involvement in an eight-day training program for communication professionals quickly evolved into an entire day dedicated to human-centred design in corporate communications. Over eight years, dozens of participants learned about usability, accessibility and design.

Embedded in my work with the MoA (Masters of Arts) exhibition 2012, we created a course for MA students at Aalto Media Lab that aimed to connect the exhibition website with the physical event space.

This research aims to provide a framework for the consideration of non-users in the context of social interaction design (SxD), in particular for the design of social network sites (SNSs).

A multi-year aurora chase around Tampere, the second most populous urban area in Finland, eventually culminated in a photo exhibition, questioning why this beauty in the sky is so commonly overlooked by those living right under it.
