Privacy Pledge
Meet the Privacy Pledge – a simple list of five key principles, designed as a commitment by those signing it:
We, the undersigned, commit ourselves to rebuilding the internet so that it returns to the ideals set out by its founders: a democratic platform designed to facilitate the free exchange of information, open communication, and privacy for the individual.
At the same time, these principles may serve as a baseline heuristic to evaluate any existing or planned product or website, including those marketing themselves as “privacy-friendly alternatives”. That’s a pretty condensed definition of “ethical product design” right there in about a dozen lines of text.
