Just getting started on reading up on the proceedings from the August #MyData conference in Helsinki.
“The best outcome for personal data is that we all naturally think of data as we think of money,” says Lawrence [Neil Lawrence, University of Sheffield, UK]: some money we keep full control of, some we share with trusted parties who manage it for our benefit. “The worst outcome is that we end up with a ‘digital oligarchy’, where data is controlled on our behalf by powerful entities which lack accountability,” he says.
Great to see how the debate surrounding personal data as a currency is picking up traction!
