At SXSW 2013, Erin Abler proposes a definition of “interaction literacy”:
Interaction Literacy (n.) The ability to recognize and respond to the sensory, experiential, integrative, and interactive elements that comprise a human experience
She substantiates that for the context of participatory design:
- Support and extend existing abilities
- Don’t punish users for lacking experience
- Allow for learning and growth
While it sure overlaps with other literacies, interaction literacy is a very appealing topic for the digital domain, as it involves so many facets of technology-mediated human exchange.
